PARA COMER ~ FOOD FOR THE SOUL

John the Baptist was sent for people's benefit to be an additional pointer to the truth of Jesus; people in sin are in such darkness that they need someone to tell them what is light. John's goal was that all men might come to trust in Jesus. John was a pointer, a witness to the light. John 1:6-9, "There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe. He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world." (NIV)

His mission was to announce the coming of Christ and to tell the people to get ready to receive Him. John the Baptist was a pointer to the truth, he pointed people to Christ.

Where do you point people? In the direction of Christ, is what a witness does. And we are called to be a witness, Acts 1:8, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (NIV)

The Call to Action: Reaching Non-Churched People
Step One: Build Relationships
Step Two: Share a Verbal Witness
Step Three: Invite your friends to your local ministry, small group, campus activity-weekly meeting, or church

PARA LLEVAR - IMPACT YOUR WORLD

Application: Think creatively about pointing people in the direction of Christ this week.

1. Be a Living Witness Matthew 5:13-16, "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." (NIV)

Questions to think about:

* Are there things you are involved in that may point people away to Christ?

* How can my actions this week toward the people God puts in my path point them to Him?

* Does this mean I need to act perfectly around everyone? Impossible! This does not mean you need to be perfect….what really communicates is being transparent about your life and how you are trusting God in the midst of struggles, circumstances, difficulties, etc. Being a light points people to the real source of life not pretending to be perfect.

 2. Be a Verbal Witness Mark 16:15, "He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." (NIV)

Questions to think about:

* Who can I begin praying for an opportunity to share about what Christ has done in my life with them?

* Who have I already built a relationship with that I need to trust God to take the next step and share with them how to know Him personally?
