Jesus Christ, the Life and Light of Believers

John 1:3-5, "Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it." (NIV)

John reveals the unfolding of creation. He goes from Jesus being the general Creator to being the Creator of human beings, Jesus is the Creator, and the source of life, the physical and spiritual life of men and women. When we were born, we received physical life. When we are born again, we receive spiritual life. Both come from Jesus Christ, this is why He makes the claim He is God!

Just as the first Creation began with "Let there be light!" so the New Creation begins with the entrance of light into the heart of the believer. The coming of Jesus Christ into the world was the dawning of a new day for men and women, to take us out of the darkness. John 12:46, "I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness." (NASB)

John sincerely believed that knowing Christ is the best way to live and the only way to die. Do you sincerely believe that knowing Christ is the best way to live and the only way to die?

Consider these questions:

* Are you convinced that everyone you know, without exception, needs to find forgiveness, friendship, life, and leadership Jesus offers?

* Do you truly believe in hell, and that our friends and family members will end up there if they don't trust in Christ before they die? Do we really believe that? If so, are we willing to take risks to share with them?

* We can agree that we all need to tell people about Christ, but do we?
