PARA COMER ~ FOOD FOR THE SOUL

"I just need a little Patience."

The word teaches us to be patient in our tough circumstances and with one another. I Thessalonians 5:14, "And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone." (NIV) How does the passage of love start out, 1 Corinthians 13:4, "Love is patient..." (NIV)

The word patience means long temper, long tempered, a long tempered person. Not easily angered, perhaps when treated wrong or enduring hardship, trials, suffering, or injustice. It is a command for us to be patient with one another and in our difficult circumstances. Patience is the righteous standard God expects all believers to conform to no matter what trial or problem they face.

I know, you're thinking  "how can I do this? You can't, it must be done in the power of the Holy Spirit. Galatians 5:22, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." (NIV)

Jesus, in John 15:5 says, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man abides in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." (NIV)

We cannot produce patience unless we are abiding in Christ, unless God is in control of our lives. This means we live out the Spirit-filled life, a life of surrender and dependence. I'm sure in your daily schedule you endure patient testers, especially during this time of the year. As Christians, one way to let our light shine before men is to display patience as you deal with tough people and tough circumstances.
