Are you ready to get involved? Today is the day to make a commitment to serve. While in college many students rationalize since they are so busy with their studies, this gives them the right to sit on the sidelines when it comes to serving the Lord. But God's word is clear, Jesus said in John 4:35, "Do you not say, 'Four months more and then the harvest'? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest."

Modern day translation of what Jesus was saying, "The time is now!" What's our timeline and what's God's timeline as it relates to the harvest? We want to wait four months until the harvest or (until we're out of college) but Jesus says, "No, that's not my timeline, the harvest in God's economy is ready now!

Jesus is waiting for harvesters to join him. This has always been the problem, a lack of workers. As Jesus said in Matthew 9:37-38, "Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

The problem, lack of workers, the solution, ask-pray for God to raise up laborers. As students, the harvest field is your campus. Are you a worker? Have you prayed for God to save the lost on your campus, to send someone to share the Good News? Are you willing to be an answer to your own prayers? God wants to use you in the harvest field, He's looking for those who have the spiritual eyes to see, "I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest."

You were made to make a contribution, not just to consume.  God made you to make a difference.  And what matters is not how long you live, but how you live.  What matters is not the duration of your life, but the donation of your life. We're all meant to give something back.  We're all meant to make a contribution.  The Bible says we're created to serve, we're saved to serve, and we're gifted to serve. We're commanded to serve God back.  You were put here to serve God and the way you serve God is by serving other people.  Now, some people want to serve God; they just don't want to serve others.  But you can't do that.  The only way you can serve God is by serving others.

I Peter 4:10, "Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms."

Galatians 5:13, "For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another."

The apostle Paul exhorted the believers in Corinth chapter 15:58, "Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain."

Don't wait to be asked to get involved in a campus ministry; don't wait to serve the Lord on campus - take the initiative and find a group and get involved. Follow the example of our Lord and Savior Matthew 20:28, "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve."
