Life is full of Uncertainty A very familiar story, Moses handing over leadership to Joshua and it was full of uncertainty. Joshua along side with Moses was taught to navigate and survive in a wilderness, but now it was time to enter a new chapter, a new territory. Joshua knew a lot about wandering but not a lot about warfare. He was stepping into the unknown. So what does God communicate in this time of uncertainty, God tells Joshua, "Be strong and courageous…for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Wow! The Lord is clear, "I will be with you wherever you go!" Now why did the Lord need to tell this to Joshua? Because he must have been afraid…God's words are unambiguous, "Be strong and courageous...I'm with you!" Everything about this situation for Joshua was packed with uncertainty. The only thing Joshua knew for certain was what God said, "Get ready…and go." Joshua didn't have all the answers…how to cross the river, what to do once they crossed it, etc. But he was certain of one thing: The Lord! He is the only sure and certain One we can rely on, the only One who gives stability in unstable times and circumstances. Life is full of uncertainty, especially as you move into new territory. At this moment we experience a crisis of faith…are we going to walk by faith and trust in God and his promises, or are we going to allow fear to direct our lives? Do we ever really know what the future holds in our lives? We may not know what to expect in the future but we know Who is in the future. And He is very clear about his plans for you, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11 Never forget the basics, Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
